The VIA Media Manager

The VIA Media Manager is a simple to use interface that allows media network owners to manage any type of content and any number of content ‘players’ that are network accessible. The VIA Server is used to communicate with the remote players so file transfers or status and control messages are reliably handled.

For more details please read the documents in the "Related Information" section to the right.  A multimedia  'movie' showing the Media Manager in action is available and is an excellent way to learn what the software can do.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE 'RELATED INFORMATION' SHOWS A PREVIOUS VERSION OF THE MANAGER. NEW INFORMATION IS CURRENTLY IN PRODUCTION AND WILL BE POSTED SHORTLY. CONTACT US FOR DETAILS ABOUT THE CURRENT VERSION OF THE MEDIA MANAGER.

Features:

·         Central control of the entire network

Virtually anything that you need to do can be done from the Media Manager.  Activities such as gathering and sending files, monitoring the network health and creating schedules to turn appropriately configured remote displays on and off is all done from a single location.

·         Player Grouping

Managing a large number of remote players effectively requires the ability to treat groups of players as a single item.

You can use the built in player groups or create your own unique criteria to categorize players with unlimited user definable types.  Use any of the layouts to manipulate and monitor your network.  See the demo for an example of how simple the is.

·         Distribution Strategy

Choose any type of content to go to any group of players at one time.  A simple drag-and-drop interface makes it easy to build a list of players to receive files you want distributed.  The Media Manager will optimize the routing of the files to minimize the bandwidth requirements and time it takes to get the files distributed.

Data transfers can be scheduled to occur ASAP or at any time in the future and can contain virtually any file that you might need to send to a remote player.

·         Network Utilization

File and message routing can be tightly controlled to ensure efficient use of your network resources or you can let the normal network routing and balancing processes handle the load.

Only files that have changed are transmitted over the network. In other words, if it already exists at the target destination it will not be sent again.

·         Network "Health"

Continual monitoring of all nodes in the network to ensure that they are able to communicate with the Media Manager. Alerts are raised if a player or node unexpectedly goes offline and information about who to call for help at each player is only two mouse clicks away.

·         Reports

The widely used Crystal Reports software is used to generate reports showing which files are available for distribution and what content is at each player at any time.  You can print or export the reports to other applications as you need.

·         Distributed Content Origination

Ability to store and retrieve content from any computer accessible by the Media Manager PC. This enables one user to control content distribution from a secure location while other users create content virtually anywhere - even their own PC’s.
